My daughter Cai is turning 13 tomorrow and we wanted to get her room decorated as one of our gifts to her. Since our move back in July we’ve slowly been buying pieces of furniture for the house, and room by room it’s all starting to come together. I’ve been combing through pinterest for diy furniture ideas and found this amazing inspiration to bring to life!
To create this look first I needed to find a desk. I’ve been having such great luck on Facebook Marketplace, that I went there and found this!
The desk cost $20.
Then I went to Lowe’s for paint, originally I found some awesome mint green OOPS’ paint for $1.50 but when I got home and tried it the color was way too light, so I had to go back and find a more aqua color.
The color I settled on is Sea Lily, by Valspur.
It was almost a PERFECT MATCH I was so excited! I painted the first coat, and waited 24 hours before adding the second coat.
For shelving I went to Ikea and grabbed 2 white shelves with silver brackets. Here’s the finished product!
The majority of the knick knacks we already had, except for the pink vase and fake flowers which I snagged at Target’s dollar spot!
Total Spending? $71
Desk – $20
Paint – $20
Shelves – $12
Brackets – $14
Vase and Flowers – $5
I’m going to have plenty more DIY projects in the future and I look forward to sharing all my before and after pics with all of you.
How’d I do this time??? I was pretty proud of myself actually 😉
